Valentine's Day is quickly approaching us and although many people may strongly dislike the persuasive-hallmark-of-a-holiday... I find this day and this month in general to be a beautiful thing. The month celebrates Saint Valentine himself, who is the patron saint of love, young people, and happy marriages. This month also holds the celebration of Black History Month, a month that actually should be taught every day, celebrated every day, as we have evolved and held love in a beautiful light through change and justice.
I am someone who loves love. Outside of the pureness of relationship love through intimacy, I love connecting with people, I love sharing common hobbies with people, and I love sharing the ultimate gift of love, Christ. I am extremely intrigued by the Enneagram personality test, and as a Type Two (the Helper) I feel most worthy of love when I am helping others. Through my bible study, we have been talking a lot about rejection and feelings of loneliness, and how the power of the ultimate love, Jesus, those feelings are diminished.
Through loving Christ and feeling the love of Christ, we are able to fully love others. Although this is not an easy task, I do believe that putting others first and seeing love as it truly is, a gift given out of nothing in return, is the most powerful gift in the world. It's what wakes us up in the morning, what makes us feel joy, and what will truly save us all.
xoxo,
mal :)
